The transfer of Péter from Kaposvár caught the attention of the media last winter when he announced to leave for Debrecen under the Bosman rule. As one of the most talented players of Hungary his team wanted to keep him or benefit over his transfer. Finally an agreement was made between the club that the player could move mid season 6 months before the end of his contract.

Szakály comes from a sporting family, he and his brother started football at the Góliát football school from where both of them were signed by Kaposvár. His secondary school headmaster was László Prukner who at the same time is was the manager for the club.

Soon after his arrival he had problems with his tonsils so the Loki supporters had to wait for his debut and the remaining time was not enough for the youngster to make an impression. He declares himself happy in Debrecen and looks forward to establish his place in the team next season. In the meantime he is majoring English at Táncsics and wants to continue his sport management studies as well.
