Another defeat in Florence
2009.11.05. 2:00
Loki held Fiorentina 1-1 at half time but the Italian side made their dominance count to win 5-2.

Int he fourth round of the Champions League Group stage Loki travelled to Florence to play Fiorentina. Two weeks ago the team almost managed to cause an upset against them but that game finished with a 4-3 defeat. Although the boys are still looking for their first points in the campaign the supporters proudly follow their favourites to the away fixtures, this time a thousand and a half of them travelled to the Italian city hoping that DVSC would do them proud.

The starting eleven was a bit of a suprise, manager András Herczeg named Pantic in the goal and rested Kiss and Coulibaly giving way to Ramos and Laczkó.

The rain never stopped all day so the ground was highly soft and slippery by the time of the kick off.  The game itself started quite badly as key defender Adam Komlósi got injured after a collision of heads. Midfielder Kiss replaced him which meant a tactical change, Fodor took over int he center Leandro was moved back from the mifield to help the defence, and Lackó took over Leandro’s palce int he midfield.

The players could not adapt to the new situation quickly and Fiorentina took full  advantage of it straight away with Mutu scoring an easy header. Loki came back fighting, the boys tried to dominate the midfield without actually giving up a tight defending. Although the game was more even at this stage, Rudolf’s equalizer was from somewhere out of the blue. The Hungarian international kept his nerves to finish off  Leo’s pinpoint cross in the 38th minute.

Things were more than promising at half time but the Violas put Loki under an enormous pressure in the first minutes of the second. The secong goal was hanging int he air from the kick off and although Pantic pulled out some magnificient saves, it was his misjudgement of the ball that put Fiorentina back in front. András Herczeg reacted immediately by putting on Adamo Coulibaly, but Fiorentia could not be stopped, they went on to score another two in the next nine minutes. Any hopes after Coulibaly”s consolation goal were then finished off by Gilardinho who set the 5-2 final score.
